Ah, a baby cauliflower.  We have a tomatoe just about ready to pick.  I'll get it tomorrow, Marvin's first one this season.

Thanks April!  So far we've had some broccoli from the garden, but our June has been so coolish that everything is a little slow in ripening.

Hi Sue!  I'm jealous that you have a tomato almost ready!!  Our tomato plants are still in the spindly, I really need more sunshine stage!

Nancy,

Looks like the beginnings of a cauliflower. Nice shot. Haven't looked down inside one like this for a while. :)

Yep Steve - tiny cauliflower in process!  I have to admit I've been peeking down into the plants for a couple of weeks wondering WHEN I was going to see something happening there!

WOW!  That is the very first cauliflower that I've seen growing.  Albeit in a picture, but growing none the less!  Life is so beautiful, in it's simplest form!

That looks about as far as ours usually gets before the bugs get them. Love all the garden fresh veggies on the way!

Ok Nancy, its a Broccoli with cheese Topping recipe but I've added cauliflower and it is delicious, here it is:

  • 1½ pounds of broccoli and cauliflower (total)
  • 1 cup (4oz.) shredded Swiss cheese (I use American or what you have at home)
  • cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons grated or minced onion
  • ½ teaspoon prepared mustard
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • teaspoon pepper

Parboil vegetables.  Arrange drained vegetables in a buttered shallow baking dish.  In a bowl, combine cheese, mayonnaise, onion, mustard, salt, and pepper; spoon evenly over vegetables.  Bake, uncovered, in a 350° oven for about 15 minutes or until vegetables are hot and sauce is bubbly.  Makes 4-6 servings.

This recipe was modified somewhat from Sunset Easy Basics for Good Cooking cookbook.  Let me know please if you like it.
