Wadsworth Blueberries are now in season and ripe for the picking. If you enjoy eating these tasty little berries, then you must plan to visit Wadsworth Blueberry Farm. They are sweet and delicious this year.
Over the years, research has shown that blueberries are one of the best sources of health protecting antioxidants, raising consumer demand for these delicious berries. According to the Blueberry Counsel, a cup of blueberries has only 80 calories and very little fat. A serving also includes twenty-five percent of our daily requirement of Vitamin C which promotes a healthy immune system. Blueberries are also known to be a good source of fiber.
Wadsworth family farm has been raising blueberries since 1987. Customers come from all areas, from Birmingham to Anniston, to pick their berries. Blueberry season at the farm is now in full swing. You can order ahead for $15.00 a gallon or pick them yourself for $10.00 a gallon. According to Mrs. Wadsworth, these berries are grown pesticide free.
Fresh blueberries should keep well for several weeks in the refrigerator. Be sure and bring home enough to freeze because they are also wonderful in pancakes, deserts, and muffins.
When I came home from Wadsworth Farm today, my son wouldn't stop eating them. I am going back tomorrow for more to freeze because of his love for homemade smoothies.
