WOW Gerry looks like some of my work, it's very difficult to capture the Sun like this and the middle photo is very impressive with the skinny cloud coming across it. Let me get back to you on this post ...
VB ;-)
Gerry, I have not figured out how to get those moon pictures. I keep trying and I keep coming back disappointed. Any hints??
Awesome Gary....I love the photos. They're just so cool, those pics...Awesome!
You have captured in the second shot, a vision that is in my mind from when I was in the 8th grade at Girl Scout camp. Sleeping in a covered wagon, as the full moon rose, I, (ALWAYS the insomniac!) was the only one awake to witness it. It had that glow around it, and I have never seen it like that since...Thanks for the memories...=o)
Neat pics Gary. So much to be said for the big sky area eh? Looking forward towards traveling that way soon...
Wonderful post Gerry, wish we'ed seen it last night, no worries it was just as perfect this morning. Wow half the year toast already.....can you believe it, success, health, happiness and love for the second half righ back at you Gerry! And Happy Canada Day! to your Montreal side LOL
Sheldon,
All your friend has to do is mention that he is friend's with that British agent and I will know immediately. Cheers!
Vegas Bob,
I hope you don't think I copied you. It is not the sun but the moon that is captured in the above pictures but the ones with the red glow to it (especially the second picture) may be confused for the sun. I would be interested to see your similar work. I am looking forward to you getting back. :)
Brenda,
I am big on ZOOM as I use the feature quite often especially with wild animals and very distant scenery. Even though it is no DSLR, I am very happy with my Kodak camera.
Marchel,
The most important thing is to have the camera on a tripod. Regardless of which camera, getting a clear pictures is very difficult for anyone to have without a tripod. The other thing, I recommend is just playing with your camera at night. You can try it on the camera's night scenery setting (assuming it is one of the many automatic settings) and also play with the shutter speed(manualoption) as the longer you have the shutter open, the more light will be captured on your photos. The good thing with digital cameras is you can take many shots at night until you get the one that you want and delete all the others. I agree that the success ratio is lower with night photos but when you do get that shot with the scenery at night (with no flash), it is worth the time you invested to try and get better with photography at night and of the moon. :)
Larry,
Thank you for the rave review! I am glad you liked this set of photos. :)
Cheryl,
You always come up with great stories that relate to my photos. I enjoyed reading your comment and it is a joy to share photos knowing that photos can evoke different memories to different people based on life experiences. Thank you for taking the time to share your interesting life experiences and nicely complementing my photos. :)
I noticed you sometimes blog late at night (when everyone else here at AR is asleep) but I don't doubt you get inspired and make the most out of those insomniac moments.
Michael,
You are the second person to refer to me as Gary (I am starting to have a second and unexpected identity here on AR). Lots to be said and gorgeous scenery eh indeed! :)
Everyone in AR will know when you head over this way as you will catch the shutterbug even more and we will be seeing more posts with beautiful photos from you. My brother is not much into taking photos but in a span of 24 hours when he was visiting from Montreal and we where on our way to and in Yellowstone, he told me he had not taken that much photos in one day before in his life.
Al and Peggy,
Thank you for this Canada Day morning visit from my friends in Brampton Ontario. Happy Canada Day to you too! :)
Gerry, OMG as always you just nailed it with your camera. You have quite the eye for composition and you certainly know your camera well and just bring things to life for me. Thank you! Hope all is good. ....geri
Great captures Gerry. I keep telling you to submit them to www.flickr.com and join my little group there. Too funny VB thought they were sun photos. Must be that strange glow. I took some moon shots last week too so I may be a copy cat and post. It was the first time I've tried photographing the moon since I got my new camera with the larger zoom.
I didn't use a tripod though. I was just finishing up a hike with the dog and don't have a tripod cuz it sounds like too much work and too heavy to carry.
Jenny,
It is good to get different angles of the same subject (full moon in this case) so It should look different from your neck of the woods (I am not worried about any copy cat). I will eventually get to flickr (I know I have someone pushing me to join).
Some times we get lucky even without a tripod although the tripod significantly improves the chances of getting good photos at night. They are mini tripods that can easily be carried and equally good as those big ones. I have one of each. :)
Thanks Gerry, I hope you have a very succssful, happy and wonderful second half of the year as well. I like your full moon photos - night photography, I think, is particularly difficult! Goood job!
Gerry, these photos are just absolutely amazing. I bet a good camera like this can actually make ME look like I know what I am doing. Great job !
Mary,
I always smile when I see you avatar and comments after my posts! Thank you for all the feedback and don't stop smiling! :)
Karen Anne,
Thank you. A good camera is a good first step but learning how to take good photos is equally if not more important. I had my new camera for about 3 months but I am still hoping to learn about the many features of the camera that I have not yet tried or fully utilized.
Hello Gerry and you know Vegas Bob can't help himself some times and your wonderful post & pics have been featured at one of my favorite groups at AR ...

Cheers Gerry !
