I hope you don't think I copied you.  It is not the sun but the moon that is captured in the above pictures but the ones with the red glow to it (especially the second picture) may be confused for the sun.  I would be interested to see your similar work.  I am looking forward to you getting back.  :)

I am big on ZOOM as I use the feature quite often especially with wild animals and very distant scenery.  Even though it is no DSLR, I am very happy with my Kodak camera.

The most important thing is to have the camera on a tripod.  Regardless of which camera, getting a clear pictures is very difficult for anyone to have without a tripod.  The other thing, I recommend is just playing with your camera at night.  You can try it on the camera's night scenery setting (assuming it is one of the many automatic settings) and also play with the shutter speed(manualoption) as the longer you have the shutter open, the more light will be captured on your photos.  The good thing with digital cameras is you can take many shots at night until you get the one that you want and delete all the others.  I agree that the success ratio is lower with night photos but when you do get that shot with the scenery at night (with no flash), it is worth the time you invested to try and get better with photography at night and of the moon.  :)

Everyone in AR will know when you head over this way as you will catch the shutterbug even more and we will be seeing more posts with beautiful photos from you.  My brother is not much into taking photos but in a span of 24 hours when he was visiting from Montreal and we where on our way to and in Yellowstone, he told me he had not taken that much photos in one day before in his life.

It is good to get different angles of the same subject (full moon in this case) so It should look different from your neck of the woods (I am not worried about any copy cat).  I will eventually get to flickr (I know I have someone pushing me to join). 

Some times we get lucky even without a tripod although the tripod significantly improves the chances of getting good photos at night.  They are mini tripods that can easily be carried and equally good as those big ones.  I have one of each.  :)

Thank you.  A good camera is a good first step but learning how to take good photos is equally if not more important.  I had my new camera for about 3 months but I am still hoping to learn about the many features of the camera that I have not yet tried or fully utilized.
