"Anybody who ever built an empire, or changed the world, sat where you are now. And it's because they sat there that they were able to do it." - Ryan Bingham (George Clooney in "Up In The Air")
Last night we watched the movie "Up In The Air" starring George Clooney. Now, this is not a movie review, although I will say I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the movie, story and acting. Actually, there was one sentence that was repeated many times in the movie that has particular relevance to today's real estate market. George Clooney makes the statement quoted above to almost every person he fires. It got me thinking. What challenges do we face right now that will provide a benefit to us in the future?
- Foreclosures and short sales allow those ready to purchase a home greater ability to find one that is affordable and in the areas they want to live.
- Neighborhoods once in decline are now being spruced up by first time buyers and investors willing to take over distressed homes and breathe new life in them.
- Those who have lost jobs are able to review their dreams, use their imaginations and have a fresh start doing something they love.
- Those of us who are professionals in real estate are able to reconnect with clients on more personal level, helping them find solutions, meeting their needs, and creating a solid working relationship with all of our partners.
