4th of July in Marin County: Fireworks, Parades and County Fairs...
Marin County offers so many different celebrations for the 4thof July weekend it would behoove you to get out and check out the local scenery. Let's start off with the various fireworks that surround Marin County Bay Area:
- Berkeley: 4th of July fireworks starts at 9:30 pm. Go to the end of the Berkeley Pier. For more information call (510) 548-3553
- Bodega Bay:Fireworks for Bodega Bay happens on July 3rd at 9:30 pm at Westside Park. For more information call (707) 875-3866.
- Napa:4th of July fireworks start at dusk at Napa's Veterans Memorial Park. For more information call (707) 257-9529
- Petaluma: July 4th fireworks celebration is being held at 175 Fairgrounds Drive. The gates will open at 4 pm for food, games, music etc with fireworks beginning around 9:30pm. For more information call (707) 778-4380.
- San Francisco: 4th of July in San Francisco, it's a big celebration held on the waterfront at Pier 39 with live music starting at 3pm. Fireworks begin at 9:30 pm
- Santa Rosa: 4thof July in Santa Rosa at Sonoma County's Red, White, and Boom. Located at the at Sonoma County Fairgrounds. Gates open at 4:30 pm and fireworks begin at 9:30 pm.
- Sebastopol: Fireworks in Sebastopol take place on July 3rdat Analy High Saturday. There is also a fair with live music, food and activities.
- Sonoma:4th of July fireworks start around 9;30, it's free and will be found at Vallejo's Field, West Spain Street. For more information call (707) 938-4626.
- Vallejo: 4th of July with rides nearby? Check out Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. Fireworks on July 3rd AND July 4th, 10 am-10 pm.
Town Specific 4th of July Parades and Celebrations
Bolinas - The 4thof July parade in Bolinas starts at 40 Wharf Road downtown at 11am and ends at Brighton Avenue. Shuttles will ferry folks to downtown. There is an annual tug-of-war, Bolinas vs Stinson Beach, its very fun and begins around 9am on the beach of the Bolinas Lagoon channel.
Corte Madera and Larkspur - The Corte Madera-Larkspur 4thof July celebration starts off with a pancake breakfast at Larkspur's American Legion Twin Cities where they will have pancakes, sausages, fruit, and drinks. You'll find the Corte Madera-Larkspur pancake breakfast starts at 8AM to 11AM at the corner of Ward Street and Magnolia Avenue. Cost is $5-$7. The cost is $5 to $7, with gin fizzes for $3 (from the Legion's 1928 recipe). Proceeds benefit Boy and Girl Scouts and Little League.
The 45th Annual Corte Madera-Larkspur Chambers of Commerce 4th of July Parade! You'll have floats, classic cars, a marching band and more! The Parade starts at 12:00 and the after parade can be found at Town Park where you can see arts and crafts, food, carnival games, children's activities, and shows on stage. Fairfax - Fairfax has a great celebration on July 3rd at the Fairfax High School. There will be a parade and then a fireworks show choreographed to music. It starts from 7:30am to 10:30pm and the theme this year is Fairfax Salutes America
Inverness - Inverness has a 4th of July Party from 9 am-1 pm and holds its 103rd annual foot race on the same day for the whole family. Festival is located on Inverness Way near the fire station.
Marinwood - The Marinwood Firefighters are having their 50th July 4thpancake breakfast from 8:30-11:30 am at the Marinwood Community Center located at 775 Miller Creek Road. The cost is $5-$7. For more info call (415) 479-0122.
Nicasio - If you live out in Nicasio you should stop by the Rancho Nicasio Restaurant & Bar. Every year they have a July 4th Weekend BBQ on the Lawn. It starts at 3pm at the town square and there will be a stage featuring Zydeco Flames. The cost is $5-$15. For more information call (415) 662-2219.
Novato - Novato is having it's 57th annual "Buckaroo Breakfast" from 8am to 11 am at the Redwood Credit Union parking lot at 1010 Grant Avenue. Cost is $3-$5 all proceeds benefit Marin Community mission project. For more information call (415) 897-6152.
Novato's 4th of July Parade starts at 11am at the corner of Grant and Railroad Avenues. It's Novato's 50th year this year, its always a big parade with over 100 different groups participating. There will be food, booths, entertainment etc..
Ross - The 4th of July annual picnic and Ross Commons parade starts at 11am, with kid's games, food, drinks etc. There won't be a parade this year because Ross is celebrating its centennial anniversary with a huge parade and festival on September 20th.
San Rafael - In San Rafael you have the Marin County Fair at Civic Center Drive. Lots of food, booths and carnival rides (rides are free with admission). Cost is $13-$15. Fireworks 9:30 from July 1st through July 5th. For more information call (415) 499-6400.
Sausalito - Sausalito has a 4th of July parade that starts at 10am. After the parade there is a town picnic from 12pm to 5:30pm with food, music, egg toss, tug-o-war. Small town fun! There will be music and then fireworks at the Gabrielson Park starting at 6:30 with fireworks at 9:30.
Sleepy Hollow -The 4th of July activities in Sleep Hollow starts with a race and then goes on to the 4thof July parade that begins at Butterfield and Deer Hollow Road. The Sleep Hollow Sea Lions Swim Team have a hot dog lunch and swimming. BBQ oysters, dinner and more on this festive day!
Tiburon - Tiburon celebrates the 4thof July with the Angel Island and Tiburon Ferry's 4th of July Fireworks Cruise located at the ferry dock on Main Street. You board around 7:30 with an 8pm departure, returning around 10pm. Tickets range from $20-$40. You can buy food and drink on board but its best to pack your own picnic. Woodacre - 4thof July starts in Woodacre starts with the Woodacre firefighters pancake breakfast at 8am to 11am located at 33 Castle Rock Road. Cost is $3-$7. Then head on downtown for the 4thof July parade. There will be booths, live music, and barbeques beginning at 12pm. Dickson Ranch has horse ride until 5pm and don't forget to peruse the flea market which takes place all day on July 4th.
