I'm Late, I'm Late, I'm Late for a Very Important 'Soci@l'

I'm Late

I'm late, I'm late, I'm late for a very important soci@l event. No time to lose, no time to waste, I'm late, I'm late, I'm late.  The white rabbit said it all and that is just how I feel after reading Ben Kinney's ebook, Soci@l

I thought I had been keeping up with the latest methods of networking and communicating.  I have joined Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn to name a few.  I have worked on my profile so it has something to say about me and my experience when people happen to read it.  I have taken several Active Rain University classes about social media and technology.White rabbit

There are web sites mentioned that I have never heard about.  It seems like it will take me several days just to check them out.

All of that is well and good but while reading through the book the feeling of getting farther and farther behind just would not leave me.  There are so many things to do and link together and keep up with that are absolutely mindboggling.

However the last chapter about putting it all together helped to calm me down.  Ben obviously knows how people feel about all he has given in this book because he specifically states to not try to do everything at once or you will go crazy!!

To me this is the key to the ebook:

  1. Develop a plan of action.
  2. Make a list of the most important points to you.
  3. Begin to implement each item, one at a time.
  4. Use Soci@l as a great reference resource for future expansion.
  5. Be sure to time block time each day for continuing to develop your social media presence.

My first action is to print the book Soci@l so I can begin to highlight the things I want to use in the beginning.  I will also make a check list of all the things I already have in place.  This should give me a starting place and allow me to fill in where needed.

I want to thank Ben and Jay for taking the time to share all this information with us.  What a great example of 'giving back'.  I am sure this is going to make a great difference in how we all do business in the future.  Again, thanks Ben and Jay.

Implementing "one at a time" is key so that one does not get overwhelmed.  I've learned from some grueling backpacking trips that focusing on one step at a time eventually gets you to your destination.

Yes.. it still seems mind boggling a times.  Ben helps.. There is still a lot that we will miss, but do what you can in the time you have allotted...  and keep being soci@l....

Thank you all for your comments!!  I needed a blueprint so I would know where to start.  I hope I am not the only one feeling like I am 'running in place'.

Barbara, thanks for reminding me to only try implementing one at a time. I feel the urge to do everything in the Soci@l book right now! But that would be silly and overwhelming.

This is a great blog (I suggested it).  I am still reading the book, but planning and taking things one step at a time are key for sure.
