Boulder Colorado Fireworks in the Rain

Last night I attended the fireworks celebration at Folsom Field in Boulder. Just before the show was supposed to begin it started raining. The rain continued to fall pretty hard over the next hour or so. Not only was it raining but it was quite cool.

Many people left because of the rain and many others didn’t even bother to come. The crowd was well below the 25,000 that were expected. But the show must go on—rain or shine. While most of the festivities were canceled the Colors were presented and the fireworks commenced in the rain.

It was kind of surreal to be out in the pouring rain watching an extravagant fireworks show, but it was well worth it for those of us that stayed. And wouldn’t you know it, the rain stopped shortly after the fireworks show was over.

Below are a few photos I was able to take in the rain.

Hi John, Good shots. I also did a little post with some of the shots that I took at our Big Bang celebration on the Bay.

Nice shots, John! I would think that the rain might help keep the smoke down, so you can capture a lot more color and detail.
