Which Philosophy of RIGHTS? -- The Diviision between Politically Right vs Left

By
Real Estate Agent with Realty ONE Group Mountain Desert DRE #SA554748000

The little diagram below presents the most succinct depiction of the political division in our country.

Which Philosophy of Rights?

It is hard for me to believe that any clear thinking real estate professional can believe the ideas shown on the right side of this chart. All property rights are protected by the US Declaration of Independence and not by the UN Declaration of Human Rights.

Lane - Maybe so, but we're not talking about the Constitution.  :-)

Lane, the Constitution does not state that rights are granted by God.  The Declaration of Independence state we are endowed by our created with certain unalienable rights.  In fact, the original Constitution does not talk about rights at all.  The first 10 amendments talk about rights.

Don't make Hans Blix write a nasty letter.

LOL!!  Israel's invokes Hans Blix?  I wonder if he wrote a nasty letter to Colin Powell after his bogus UN address on behalf of Dubya.  Then again, that's pretty much all the UN can do.  Doh.

Paul, the Amendments are PART of the Constitution, not some seperate document.  Just as amendments you make to a contract are part and parcel of that contract...  And please note that the right in the Constitution are inherent to the people... they are not derived FROM government.

And Tchaka...  the Declaration of Independence certainly provides that the fruits of our labor belong to us, not the government...

Kate, Tchaka and Jason -- I did not hear any ideas on how you think the real estate industry would fare without private property rights.

Real Estate wouldn't fare to well without private property rights, John.  Then again, Real Estate hasn't done too well in the past couple of years and I wonder why that is ... another blog at another point.

I believe in private property rights.  Especially if it is indeed a privately owned property.  There is a difference, ya know.  I was one of the ones pissed off because they no longer allow smoking in a bar.  Now, I'm a smoker.  And I don't really mind going outside to do so.  However, I think it is up to the establishment on whether or not they want smoking in their confines.  If somebody, anybody, wants to dictate anything other than that ... then I think that establishment should be exempt of paying any Real Estate Taxes.  That's my opinion.

What gets my nuts in a bunch is you seem to paint this pretty little picture of how "Liberal Folks" are.  It's just as ridiculous as liberal folks painting some masterpiece of how "Conservative Folks" are.  I don't think I fit either mold in whole and hope I never do.  I have this free thinking thing going on and really want to explore truths before I start spouting talking points without knowing jack squat.

I know what I am getting into every time I log onto this group.  I'm cool with that.  And I know when commenting on your posts that any feedback I give or retorts I write will fall drastically short in garnering any discourse worthy of anything other than cut and paste blogs and diagrams.  Perhaps I need to look elsewhere for any challenges to my beliefs and/or genuine thought that refutes, addresses, or denounces those very beliefs.

Is that a real answer, Georgia?

John - You didn't ask.

And to be blunt, there's really not much debate because the industry would diminish significantly.  Anyone could tell you that.

I think that there is confusion here, I ask, what exactly has the UN been successful in doing?  There is still problems in every country that it has been involved in.  And it never actually goes after it's members that break its own Declarations.   Anyone that thinks the UN is a positive force is not seeing reality.

The UN is a very positive force and they do a lot of good all around the world.  Where they lack (IMO) is in peacekeeping forces because of their strict rules of engagement, ie, lack of engagement.  But peacekeeping is merely one component of the UN.

Tchaka -- The UN Agenda 21 is a DIRECT ATTACK on private property rights.

Tchaka... the idea of the UN is good... the execution is piss poor at best.  The corruption is astounding, and they are all about THEIR little power grabs... especially with other people's money (namely, ours).  For the most part, the world would be better off without them.  Or, better yet, a UN that promoted freedom and liberty rather than the corrupt status quo.

@Georgia - Good question.  I'm not completely convinced that 'Obamacare' will take away our choices.  From what I've read and heard, that's just not true.  You still will be able to insure with your current carrier (if applicable) or have the option of finding another.  I have my insurance through my employer and that won't change ... so I have been told.  As far as those without it currently, I guess I would choose any option over no option.  If what you are saying turns out to be the case, then perhaps my opinion on that particular policy will change.

Jason, Georgia is right. You and EVERYONE who works for a living has been screwed by the health care bill.

If you don't feel it, you need to read what is in it and what it will do to you.

If you are not feeling the pain, you either are not paying attention or you have been reading for your facts in the wrong places.

I haven't been screwed by anything in the health care bill just yet, John.  And I don't expect to be.  Time will tell.

And I am paying attention and I think it is somewhat obvious that I'm not reading 'facts' from selected sources.  I take an eclectic undertaking in my reading.  I read you and many on this group, mainly Conservatives and folks who won't be sending our Prez a Christmas Card this year.  I also read and listen to more Liberal Bias.  And I read and listen outside of AR and the more popular media.  At the end of the day, I realize much of what I'm reading and/or listening to is just that ... bias.  I make up my own mind as I see fit.

The thing that is whacky to me is you presume to think your 'facts' and the Conservative Ideology are the be all/end all, self-evident truths.  Well, perhaps self-evident to you, but I think it egotistical to presume your way is the highway.  While life is a highway, there are many roads and streets and alleys intertwined along its way.

HHS came out with a study a week before the health care vote that said that the Democrat plan would increase costs across the board... but it wasn't released even to Congress until it was leaked.  Just in the last week, a study came out showing that over half of all businesses... and a larger share of small businesses, would not be providing the insurance they provide now... largely because of increased costs for the new laws.  All told, around 2/3rds of the people that have insurance now... that the President said they could keep if they wanted... will be moved into the government pools.

The government also came out with a study that plainly said that health care costs to insurers would rise for individuals, but that the rise would be offset by government subsidies... except for higher income earners.  Now the income level that is considered 'high' is dropping...

We are seeing our premiums rise and coverage dropping for our next renewal... this month... and the insurance company is citing the new health care requirements...

Jason, lube up... it's gonna happen.

Hey, if I'm taking it up the ass it's going to be their personal hell.  Toilet Paper fears me.

And Lane, if what you write doesn't happen, then what?  Let's talk again soon.  I know more about insurance (of any kind) than I ever did.  And I will continue to learn...

Great comment, Georgia!  Keep in mind that for every decision in favor of community rights, individual rights are restricted. This trend will end eventually in the great loss of our freedom and individual property rights.
