"You don't need an inspection on this house"

Home Inspector with Brian Persons Front Range Home Inspections

My last four clients have told me that the Realtor told them "you don't need an inspection on this house".

Are they crazy or just trying to make a quick buck at the clients expense. It turned out that all of these properties had considerable issues. This seems somewhat unethical for a Realtor to advise a buyer. I know times are tough but, a conscience has to be worth something. I am glad my clients decided to have it done anyway, and I hope this trend of bad advise from unethical Realtors stops.

I agree Brian.  I just had a buyer express his gratitude that I did recommend an inspection even though it was a new build by a reputable builder.  There were several issues that needed to be addressed and now all is moving forward smoothly.

Brian,

If the guilty are indeed REALTOR members, such unethical advice goes against the rules. I can't even imagine doing so. Home inspections are critical parts of buying a home!

Brian:

I would tell those people to re-think the next time with whom they do business.  Home inspections are so important in the process of buying.  I include the home inspection clause in all my dealings and if they do not want one I make them cross it off and sign it.  Protecting my interests as well.
