100,000 points!!!! What's the big deal?

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Killian Properties (Oklahoma & Texas)

Really, the title of this post is a real question.  What IS the big deal about racking up the most points on ActiveRain?  Can you honestly tell me it puts more money in your pockets?  Does it bring you more clients?  Do you sell more houses?  Do you get to pick a big stuffed teddy bear off the wall and take it home with you?

I'm just curious so please weigh in here.

Janie - I think the points just show the amount of time you have spent building your blog - so maybe in a way it can lead to others seeing your post and eventually using your services.

The points indicate activity. Not just setting up a blog, but feeding it, helping it stretch, reach across the internet, to be picked up by search engine robots as a place to return often because this guy or gal broker that blog about property, their area and communities is worth following. Nowadays you are selling the area to someone not living local or who has never been here. Blog post paint the picture with video, links, copy about your communities so the buyer can form a picture between their ears with your help. You connect with buyers, are the first person, broker they meet on line where 85% of folks go for anything these days. Lots of points tell you that AR blogger is working hard in the AR platform and usually just as hard on outside blogs, other social media sites, video platforms.

I understand blogging and putting oneself out there but I also believe that the time it would take to rack up 100K points would take a great deal of my time that could be spent on more productive venues.  That's a personal opinion for sure but come on......really.

You've all got great points but most of the posts I've read here are a repeat of subjects we've heard over and over which leads me to believe some are only posting or commenting for the points.  To each his own I suppose.

Thanks for weighing in on this subject.
