It seems as though people are dropping feature phones like they are made of hot iron (For all of you tech gurus with bad memory, feature phones are simple wireless phones that are only able to call or text and support games such as snake).
The other day we came across quite a useful Smartphone study conducted by comScore. As you can see in this chart, Smartphones have experienced a growth rate of 8.5% this past year. Considering the cost of buying a Smartphone, and the cost of the monthly plans, this is quite an impressive growth. This number is only going to get bigger as Smartphones become both cheaper and easier to own.

As you all know, last week we created a Smartphone Guide for Realtors blog post, where we wanted everyone to give their two cents on which Smartphone platform is the best. Below are the results of our poll:
Consistent with the general population, the ActiveRain market is dominated by the BlackBerry, iPhone and Android.

Although the majority of our fellow ActiveRainers use a BlackBerry, many of these users have discussed changing their Smartphone, reflecting the general trend of BlackBerry ownership. What is also interesting in the comScore chart below is how Microsoft went from 25% market ownership to around 15%, and Apple seems to have increased its marketshare by 5% (and this is before the release of the iPhone 4G).

Considering this study was conducted prior to the launch of some pretty impressive Smartphones, the next question to ask our fellow ActiveRainers would be whether there will be a change in the ActiveRain Smartphone market this year? Let us know what you plan on doing:

A big thank you to all of you who have commented on our last post, and gave us the inspiration to write this post! Stay tuned for Part-2: Why should I choose this Smartphone?
Take care and be safe everyone!
