When you think of the Lakes in New Hampshire, most people think of only the most famous lake which is Winnipesaukee. Not many have heard of Bow Lake in Strafford New Hampshire. Strafford, NH is what I call a destination Town.
Located in Strafford County it is a sleepy commuter town with over 4000 residents. People move here because they like the rural feel of the area and because it boasts a desirable school system. The best kept secret of course is Bow Lake.
Both towns of Northwood and Strafford abuts this jewel of a lake. Bow Lake consists of 1140 acres of which you can enjoy all year long. It's pristine waters are home to 3 Loon families that return every year to raise their young ones and share the lake with a myriad of wildlife including the eagles that in the islands that dot the lake, Bennett island being one of those purportedly.
Sailing, fishing, water-skiing, ice-fishing, snowmobiling are just some of the pleasures available when you live on the lake. Visitors and Homeowners have been coming up to this little known lake for years. The beauty of the lake is that it will only accommodate so many due to the lack of parking.
If you have a home on the lake you are most fortunate. However lakefront properties tend to be handed down from generation to generation with very few direct waterfronts ever coming onto the market.
When a property such as this one pictured here on my blog comes on they are surprised by the price. Most people tend to think that because the lake is not as well known that they can find something on the water very inexpensively. If you are looking for waterfront with privacy you can't get much better than this.
