Interesting Info About You On My Facebook Page

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Andrew Realty Serfvices

It's exciting when something we post on Facebook goes viral and that's what makes this lastest Facebook scam so tempting to click.  The email looks like it comes from Facebook and who wouldn't want to see info about ourselves on someone else's page?

Hover your mouse over any of the links in the email and you'll see that if you click, you'll be taken to a phishing site and not to Facebook.

Facebook Scam

TIP:  Rather than clicking on links in an email, log directly into your Facebook account.  This way you can avoid any phishing attemps coming from outside Facebook.

Thanks for the quote Barbara

Gita - consider getting on Facebook.  It's a good way to stay connected with past clients and meet potential new clients.

You're right Richard, it's better not to click, but it can be very tempting.

I'm happy to share. Nancy and Dan.

It's always a good idea to never click on links in any email message unless you absolutely know the email is coming from someone you know and trust. Even then, in certain circumstances, such as the sender forwarding a link to you, it's a good idea to be cautious.

Very true Bill.  I've gotten in the habit of hovering my mouse over any link first to read the link and then I input it directly into my browser if it's something I want to check out.

Deb, You also don't know if the site could have a virus in it.

It is quite possible Marchel that the phishing site could also contain a virus and you'd get a double whammy.

Hi Deb, I am pretty tech savvy and my husband more so but it is always great to get these messages out there. I appreciate it, thank you for any and all the warnings. Please don't let the few bad apples ruin your time in such a great orchard, other words, please enjoy social media join Facebook, Twitter, You Tube, ActiveRain and all that just don't open things you not sure where they came from. But surly get out there and enjoy. DebOnThe Web thanks for all your advice.
