What is your attitude towards real estate?

Day in and day out I'm asked by someone or I hear one of the agent's in our office being asked - "So how is your market?"  Time and time again I hear agents say "Oh, it's been really slow", one agent even said to a previous client "Really not making a bit of money right now, just trying to get by".

sad guy

Now before you start thinking our market is suffering - because it sure isn't - let me tell you a little about the agent's I'm hearing these comments from - these are the agents who:  don't come into the office(Yeah - I'm really going to hand out leads to that wonderful agent sitting on the couch watching soap operas who thinks all they had to do to get rich was get a real estate license!!), don't return client calls (Really? You're that busy?), have no interest in learning anything new that could help them turn their business around (HELLO! I can tell you what you need to be doing - just can't make you do it!!), and above all - Your attitude really sucks!

Everyday, whether I have appointments or not - I get up, get dressed and I head into the office (now the office part might now apply to some of the agents that work at home - but still you should do the part of getting up and getting dressed!)

I get to the office early so that I can get a start on the day before everyone else gets there and being that we have such a storefront real estate office I think it allows previous clients and all those soon-to-be clients a chance to see that I'm always working!  That this is not a hobby to me - this is my career!

I make a list of things I plan to accomplish for the day (I'll admit, I'm easily sidetracked- so a list is very good for me).

After getting my list together - with a positive attitude about how wonderful my day could end up being - I start brainstorming for my business, for new ways to get my clients homes sold, the list goes on.......

And due greatly in part to the fact that I am truly excited about real estate in our area, when people ask me how our market is - I can truthfully tell them "It's absolutely great!

So tell me, which agent would you want to work with?  smiley face

Lainie, I'm with you.  We can't control the market, but we can control our attitude.  I don't work at the office, but I do work full time, and then some!

Exactly, Karen!!  You don't have to work in an office to be a very full time Realtor - just helps in the area that I'm in (small 2nd home sort of town) :-)

What if... I don't get up and go to the office or get dressed but still do work, does that count? Oh, and I have a good attitude! :) Dang slackers...
