I just read an article in the Pocono Record that there are over 800 deer killed on Monroe County roads a year. This amount accounts for only the deer that are picked up as many more run off into the woods to die or recover. No wonder the car insurance industry wants to increase the limits on the amount of deer hunters can harvest during deer season. The other side of the coin is that it keeps our auto body shops busy and people working. I wish there was a way to save the meat, I love venison steaks!
Deer are nice and I want people to understand that it is always nice to see some wandering around, I like deer, but they have become like giant rats, even in the suburbs. I think on earth day we ought to hunt them without limit to celebrate the good things God provides.
John, I wonder if maybe that number could be decreased by people driving SLOWER?
That would work but just paying attention to the road & "NOT TEXTING" or "TALKING ON YOUR CELL PHONE" while driving would save not only deers but fellow drivers. Did you know that you can still talk on your cell phone in the great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, it's not against the law! We just had 3 fatalities on a local highway, all within a few miles of each other. I'm sure that a cell phone was involved!
