savannah historical homeTHIS IS THE FIRST HOUSE IN GEORGIA WITH ELECTRICITY.  MY MOM AND I JUST VACATIONED TO THE BEAUTIFUL TOWN OF SAVANNAH. THIS HOME RECEIVED ELECTRICITY IN THE 1800'S.  TOWNSPEOPLE USED TO COME GATHER OUT IN THE SQUARE IN FRONT OF THIS HOME EACH NIGHT JUST TO WATCH THEM TURN ON THE SWITCH AND FOR THE LIGHTS TO COME ON.  I JUST FIND THAT SO AMAZING.

ENJOY OUR RICH AMERICAN HISTORY! GO VISIT A HISTORIC TOWN, A FORT, A PARK, OR ANYTHING THAT TEACHES YOU MORE ABOUT OUR GREAT LAND.

HAPPY FRIDAY!

Great looking building. I could not imagine not having central AC in Georgia.

I love history and especially historic buildings.  It must have been a real sight and celebration for the townspeople when that house lit up for the first time.

@Dan- It's hard to imagine what that would be like...to be sitting in a square, waiting for the only person in town's lights to turn on..like it's a movie. Just fascinating! Thanks for stopping by.
