A Fitting Good-Bye to LeBron... Sweets to the Sweet ? Noper, They Gave him a Hot Dawg !

By
Real Estate Agent with New Home Hunters of Fort Worth and Tarrant County

I have been looking for a suitable way to personally end the publicity and mayhem surrounding "The King" fleeing his "throne" in Cleveland, and heading for the sunny, (hopefully) alligator-infested shores of South Beach.  Yes, the "hot dog" has has taken his "buns" outta here.

It appears that the Canton Repository, a newspaper in Canton, Ohio... the "sister city" of Akron, Ohio, beat me to it.  So, I am sharing that with you... for one final good-bye to LeBron James.

Rude Dawgs, one of the local restaurants in Canton, Ohio has come up with a fitting way to tell the world what they think of their disappearing hero.

If you cannot read the print in the ad, here is what it says: Come to Rude Dawgs TODAY, shout "TRAITOR !" ... get a free hot dog !

Hi Karen, Love the advertising, very funny!! Not sure I agree with the "traitor" label. He fulfilled his commitment to Cleveland and has made a choice to play for another team for his own "championship chances" reason. I'm from Ohio and feel the disappointment, but also now live in Florida and understand their happiness. We'll have to see if it pans out for him. jay

so what exactly was this guy supposed to do?   He did not go for the big pay day.   He went with, what he thought was, the best chance for a championship.  How is that a bad decision.  IMHO Ohio is acting like a petulant child because a talent made a sound business decision.   Boo F@#$%^ who

guess what!  Basketball, professional Basketball is a BUSINESS.  He made what he thinks is a sound business decision.

those who oppose it are selfish RETARDS

Hi Karen ~ Glad you're keeping me up on all of this - I had no idea who LeBron James was / is.  Even NPR touched on it more than once today so I know it's big - ha!

Jay:  I think it just boils down to loyalty and personal responsibility, and what he wants his legacy to be... or if he even cares about how he will be seen in the future.

Look at some of the other NBA players he seems to look up to.  Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Dirk Nowistski.  They ALL stayed with their original teams, and did whatever they could to MAKE that team a perennial winner.  They did NOT turn tail and run, and jump on the coat-tails of others... piggy-backing their way to a title and a trophy. Loyalty seems to be just another thing that has fallen by the wayside, to become a thing of the past.

He needs to choose.  Either work on his legacy, or blatantly show himself as a mercenary.  He cannot have both.  I guess what bothers me is his being so disingenuous.

Daniel:  What was he supposed to do ?  I believe the current phrase that is used is "man up."  And yes, it is either a game, or a business.  If it is a business, than it should be fully treated as a business... without all the "sports" hoop-la and pretense.

And gee... so clever... "Boo F@#$%^ who."  So very clever.  Daniel... if all you can do is insult and throw poorly-disguised profanity, then please, go be a "little boy" somewhere else !

Liz:  This little man-child came right out of high school, and was so "wonderful" that he got himself an almost one hundred million dollar endorsement with Nike.  Which is fine.  Cool.  Just don't pretend to be someone you are not.  If you are a mercenary, fine.  Just be honest about it, and forget all this nonsense of his about his "team."

He was totally coddled in Cleveland.  Perhaps in retrospect that was a mistake.  Just wait until he tried to pull that nonsense with his new "boss"... Pat Riley.  This... should be fun to watch.

Karen: I love a good dog, and free is even better, but it's a bit far for me. I'm in the minority but I cheer for real people, not a franchise, or an employye thereof.

Marilyn:  He can obviously do whatever he wants.  Just forget about being so doggone disingenuous.  In Cleveland, he was "the man."  It will be fun watching LeBron and Dwyane Wade... Miami's Number One... fight over who gets the ball.  Unfortunately, basketball will not change their rules to allow two balls to be used simultaneously during the game.

So, you are hungry, my dear ?  Ask LeBron.  It appears he has enough hot dawgs to go around.

Matt:  I agree... and it appears that Mr James is not the "real person" that many thought he was.  Years ago, however, the "real people" stayed with "the franchise"... which, way back then, we called a "team."  As they say, there is no "I" in team.

I am sure that all of Greater Cleveland was hoping that LeBron would be another Jim Brown.  But... a "Jim Brown"... he ain't !  (forgive my grammar.)

Karen Anne, That is a better send-off than Karl Malone got when he left the Utah Jazz! The team and the fans supported him throughout his career and then he downtalked Utah every chance he got! And of course, he thought it was all about him and still didn't get on a team that could win in the NBA Finals!

"Unfortunately, basketball will not change their rules to allow two balls to be used simultaneously during the game." - You have an amazing sense of humor! Ha-ha! I'm still laughing over that comment!

Karen Anne, Out West the current phrase is "Cowboy Up"....Mr. James is certainly not a gentlemen cowboy.  Funny, but I think he is in for a rude awakening...previously he was in a town that adored him.  In Miami he is just one of the boys......and, outside of b-ball, the man seems to have the need for "all eyes on me."  In the long run, not sure Cleveland it not better for his betrayal.

Hi Karen, Loyalty is something a couple of the guys you named might have had with their teams but certainly not in their personal lives. LeBron to me is a kid who was plucked out of high school, paid an insane amount of money to play a game he loves. If he didn't perform as well as he had, Cleveland would have dumped him toot sweet and we'd never even remember his name or cared that he was dumped. We don't see loyalty and responsibility in the owners, why should we expect it in the players? In my books, he's still a kid trying to win championships, and he thinks that can be done in Miami.

Karen Anne - I'm pathetic, I don't know who this guy is. Boy, that Daniel (#2) got a little bent, would you say? I remember how riled up the Oakland Raider fans were when the team was moved to Los Angeles.  Then they decided to move back! They were the Oakland Traitors for the longest time. On another note, I love a free dog!

How many herre would pull up stakes because we had a chance to fullfill a true dream?  Just because this guy is a sports star, he should not make decisions that are to his best interests.

#2 is in Florida..we never care about the actions of the devil who plays with us.  I just think that he's a big egotistical jerk. I like Wade....and I'm sorry that he's going to need to deal with this guy. But I'll enjoy beating them in the Finals next year.....if they get that far.

Karen Ann, It's not hard for me to believe that a young man who's been catered to his entire life has done something that might be considered selfish.  All I can say is - duh!

What does surprise me is that folks continue to pay such huge prices for tickets to sporting events that it offsets the RIDICULOUS salaries being paid to these selfish young people.  Double duh!!

He made his decision to win championships and build his legacy. The reality is that no matter how many he eventually wins (in Miami) or elsewhere he will never have the legacy of Magic, Bird, Jordan, or even Kobe who all had great players around them but they made everyone better.
