Promoting Yourself & Creating a Niche

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Crye-Leike, Realtors

It's important to be able to stand in a crowd and be noticed. Creating a niche through self-promotion is something every agent can and should do.

stand outHow Do You Promote Yourself and Create a Niche?

  • Develop a consistent look and feel...
  • Consumers quickly get comfortable with the way people market themselves.
  • Consistency will create a warm and safe world for your clients.
  • The only way you distinguish yourself from everyone else is your persona, and if it's constantly changing, you lose any momentum generated.
  • You are your own brand!! Market yourself as such.
  • The public will remember you for what you have done in a community.

Below are some items that you can make look consistent.

  • Business Cards
  • Direct Mail
  • Newspaper ads
  • Marketing hand outs
  • Sponsorships

Other ways to promote yourself:

  • Always be professional.
  • Even when you don't think you're "on stage," you are.
  • There is no such thing as "Good enough" or "It'll do for now." If it's worth your money and time, it's worth the effort to do it as well as possible.
  • It takes a year to win a customer... a minute to lose them.
  • Always be reliable.
  • Never tell a prospect or client that you will do something and not honor it exactly as they understand it.

  • "It takes a year to win a customer... a minute to lose them."  This is so true, it's so important to make every step and every word intentional.

Great information, Angie. I would also add that it might be a good idea to create a different "feel" for each market you target (i.e. First Time Home Buyers, Investors, Move-Up Buyers, etc.)

Frank - Yes I like the thought of being on stage.... everyone is a potential client. Everyone needs a place to live.

Tracey - I agree it is so true about how hard to win a customer and how easy to lose one

Ilyce - Wonderful point. I love that idea. I certainly think you could target more than one type of customer and it would be great to tailor information to their needs.

Excellent graphic. Good points too. Branding first, and on it follows attraction and then trust. Good stuff, it's appreciated.

    Cheers...

Gary - I like the progression you outlined. Trust is certainly important. You have to ultimately trust that your agent is making recommendations in your best interest.

Janie - It was funny about the link. I still have my comments set to send me updates on that post of yours. As soon as I posted this, I saw the comments start coming in on your post as well. Glad some more people read that post you wrote. I think it was excellent.

Angie,   All good points to remember.  Another one that fits with the 1 year to win a customer and 1 minute to lose them, is:  It take one oops to cancel 10 attaboys.
