It all depends on what was broken down to become the sand. Different kinds of rocks and shells can create different colors of sand. Also, depends on the area.
All three of my children took a Marine Biology class. I will ask them, so that I can be more specific with the answer....they learned all this stuff...even the correct names of the sands and shells etc...
