What! I said, "The cat is playing with a bunny."
"What are you talking about," I asked my wife.
With that, Lorie, my wife began to laugh uncontrollably. "What's so funny?!" I demanded. She responded by telling me she had said, "The cat is laying under the deck. Isn't she funny."
This has become the joke in our family as my wife needed to share this conversation with our three children. How is it that I am the Rodney Dangerfield of my family.
One must laugh at himself. I grew up on a farm in Iowa and we never wore ear plugs in those days. The loud noise of farm equipment was experienced on most days. It has taken its toll on my hearing.
At least I have an excuse when Lorie asks me, "Are you listening to me?" "Yes dear, I am listening, I am just not hearing you."
