Isn't it always nice when someone offers you a cold drink on a hot day? The idea of offering a cool, refreshing drink to a heat-beaten stranger or neighbor is a theme thousands of years old. The offering of a thirst-quenching beverage is like the giving of first aid to an injury or a hug to the lonely.
During the heat of summer, consider making yourself memorable to potential buyers viewing your home. Make a good impression and set the stage for a smoother negotiation by starting this with courtesy and consideration for the others.
When we feel that another person has done something really considerate for us, our feelings toward that giving person are softened and changed. Hospitality and thoughtfulness go a long way in business and real estate and everything else.
Think of ways you can make the potential buyers feel welcome, cared for, and relieved. Could it be possible to encouage an offer (or even a better offer) by having cool drinks or fresh snacks ready for the viewers and/or the buyer's agent? When buyers have so many options in an overstocked home market, sellers need to create ways for buyers to both NOTICE and REMEMBER their house / property.
We have heard of curb appeal. That gets potential buyers in the door. We need to practice a type of memory creation also. We want buyers to remember their experience in the listing.
