Despite the "Doom & Gloom" reported in the national media about recent real estate market conditions, Maine saw a 24% increase in the number of single family home sales in June 2010 when compared to June of last year.
What does this mean to those looking to buy or sell a home in the Lewiston Maine area?
It simply means that we are experiencing a trend towards stability and growth in the Lewiston real estate market. Mainers taking the plunge into the current market are in a much better position than many around the country.
There are still great deals out there for those looking to purchase a home, but we have seen a stabilization of prices. The number of homes sold in the area has continued a slow and steady increase in 2010 instead of the hit or miss sales of last year.
June 2010 also showed a 36% decrease in the number of "days on market" for single family, non-waterfront homes compared to June of last year. In June of 2009 these homes took an average of 122 days to sell, whereas in June 2010, that number dropped to an average of 78 days.
