Speechless Sunday - Rainbow Over Red Lodge

I am going to Yellowstone National Park tomorrow (Monday) and looking forward to it.  Did you know that the Northeast entrance to Yellowstone National Park is only 69 miles from Red Lodge?

As I posted some of my best photos of last weekend's Rodeo of Champions and July 4th parade (Photos of Red Lodge Rodeo and July 4th Parade - Red Lodge, Montana (Part 1)), it rained for a very brief time and immediately cleared up with this very beautiful and colorful view.

Double Rainbow Over Red Lodge, Montana - July 11, 2010

I guess this photo opportunity timed itself perfectly for Speechless Sunday.

I will have one Moose Monday post around 4:00AM on Monday, just prior to hitting the road for Yellowstone National Park.  I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Hi Gerry - Very timely for a double rainbow photo.  About an hour or two before I saw your post yesterday, I noticed the Toronto Star had an article about a YouTube video exceeding three minutes that had gone viral about a guy who was commenting on a double rainbow.

The last and only time I went through the northeast entrance was summer of 1973. Since then it's always been from the west or south.

Lisa,

It is one of those photos where the window of opportunity to take the photo is very short.  I am glad you loved it.

Michael,

I like the way you think.   I got my name under both in the hope that I catch at least one of the two pots of gold.   :)

Marc,

There is something special about double rainbow!   It is funny how it does not take much for a video on a double rainbow to go viral in this day and age.   I guess the person who posted the video captured the entire existence time of the double rainbow by doing the video.  :)

John,

Thanks.  It does not happen often and it sure gets your imagination going (and escape reality for a little while) when you see one of this beauties.  :)

Russel,

So I can assume you have been to Red Lodge in 1973.  I wonder how the town looked then although I would imagine that no much has changed on the main street given that most buildings are part of the historical registry.  I have not yet been to the South entrance but I plan to change that later this summer when I go through Yellowstone to visit the Grand Tetons.

Fantastic shot that is so clear and dynamic. Gtreat, crisp colors. Just a wonderful shot. :)
