How does this sound, sheetrock that cools or heats a house by changing when the temperature does? Yes, on the horizon for new home construction will be eco-friendly power walls. You might ask how does this work? Drywall covers the structural beams of a house to create a smooth insulated and fireproof surface.   National Gypsum is developing a new product, ThermalCore that looks similar, but embedded inside are wax filled capsules call Micronal. When the surrounding temperature hits 73 degrees the wax liquefies and absorbs thermal energy, cooling the room in the same way an ice cube cools water when it melts. As the temperature drops, the wax solidifies again & gradually releases heat back into the room.

Testing is being done on how to determine how different amounts of wax in the gymsum, will behave in different climates and season. The goal, is to be able to tailor the panels to their environment so homes in Florida where humidity is more persistent might have drywall with more wax capsules than homes in colder New York.

Be on the look out for this new eco-friendly materail coming to a new home builder in your community.

Thanks for the newsflash.  I love new innovations especially when they apply to our real estate business.  If nothing else it makes great conversation when with a buyer or seller or anyone else for that matter.  It shows we are aware of what is going on and not just about selling.
