General Information

Tarzana is a district of Los Angeles located in the Southern San Fernando Valley, adjacent to Encino and Woodland Hills.

Ventura Boulevard is Tarzana’s major road (and really, the major road in the San Fernando Valley). 

The majority of Tarzana residents live in the prestigious “South of the Boulevard” location, referring to the area south of Ventura Boulevard. 

According to the 2009 L.A. Times Mapping L.A. Project, there were 35,502 residents in Tarzana.

Schools

Tarzana is in the Los Angeles Unified School District.  Elementary schools are Wilbur Avenue, Nestle Avenue, Vanalden Elementary and Tarzana Elementary.  The middle school is Portola.  High schools are Birmingham, Reseda and Taft.

Recreation / Dining / Entertainment

Tarzana has two terrific country clubs with golf courses: El Caballero Country Club and Braemar Country Club.

Tarzana has an abundance of dining, grocery stores, and shopping areas, mostly located on Ventura Boulevard.  Here is a nice review and summary of Tarzana restaurants and shopping available.
