A family run, family oriented, pick your own fruit farm.
A favorite place for my family and I to visit. Butternut Farms is located on Meaderboro Road in Farmington New Hampshire. They offer a variety of fruits, starting with strawberries in June, blueberries, raspberries, peaches, plums, cherries, and apples.
Strawberries...........mid June-early July
Raspberries..............................July
Tomatoes..........................July-Sept.
Sweet Cherries..........................July
Blueberries.................late July-August
Peaches......................late July-Sept.
Apples.....................late Aug-October
These photos were taken this past weekend, on Sunday, 7-11-10 when my family and I visited. We walked away with a large bucket of blueberries, and a couple pints of raspberries. For most who visit the farm, a fun thing to do is taste test the fruit. The owners Giff and Mae, encourage you to do so, but keep in mind, this is how they make a living and support their family. This year I have noticed what they call a "guilty pleasure" box. This is where you can donate to the farms for the fruit you have eaten while picking. Giff and Mae will in turn donate those funds back to a local charity. A "win-win" for everyone!
Check them out sometime if you are in the area. Butternut farms is located at 195 Meaderboro Road, Farmington NH 03835. I would recommend you call before you arrive to scheck the picking for the day and to see if they plan on being open until normal closing time. 603-335-4705
