I love to shop but I hate to pay full price; I like to let somoeone else take the depreciation so Let's Go to the Consignment Shops!

The heavy hitters in the area are Quality Consignment in Middlebury, Consigment Originals in Cheshire, and although kind of a hike from here, Uptown Consignments in Rocky Hill.

Quality Consignment has been an institution in Middlebury for ever and has recently expanded to a second location to accomodate Selma's new furniture consignment.  You can find designers like St. John's Knits for the ladies who lunch and J Crew for her daughter.  Quality's proximity to Westover School makes is a great place to shop for your descerning teen, especially at prom time.  In the winter, Selma inventories a huge selection of to die for furs while she always has beautiful designer shoes and handbags for sale.

Consignment Originals just moved to larger digs up by the prison in Cheshire with additonal locations in Orange and Rocky Hill.  They carry everything from infants to menswear, with the emphasis on women's clothes, shoes and accessories.  If you wear a small shoe size, there's a consigner who brings in shoes from Taryn Rose, Stuart Weitzman, and Donald Pliner among other top designer names.

Uptown Consignments in Rocky Hill was the reason Prudential Agents from all over the state, didn't mind traveling to Rocky Hill for training.  The store is well organized and well stocked.  They feature a wonderful selection of designer handbags at discount prices.  I once picked up a very handsome sport coat for my guy and spent ninety eight cents.

Then there are the smaller, local shops like Carousel Kids in Southbury featuring well priced clothing and toys for new borns to teens.  I purchased a pair of Limited Too pants and a waffle weave top for under $8.  Woodbury has a newer shop on Main Street North called Off the Rack which features designer duds in a chic, boutique setting.  In Oxford, Luiza Curral is the proprietor of Deja Vu, a source for home accessories, including some really cool chairs, children's clothes and some women's offerings.  There were beautiful vintage jewelry pieces in a case towards the back of the store when I visited recently.  Finally, Frugal Finds on Main Street brings women's and children's consignment cothing to Watertown.

So the next time you are dying to get your shopping yayas out, Let's Go to the Consigment Shops!

These are only a scratch of the surface so to speak.  Give me some time and I'll update you on consigment shopping in the Newtown area.  I hear it's worth the trip.  If you have any questions or comments, please call or text me at (347) 556-0014, email me at ruthzeiss@prudentialct.com , or visit my website at http://ruthzeiss.prudentialct.com.
