SAVINA HARTWELL MEMORIAL CONCERTS-FREE FAMILY ENTERTAINMENT.  Tilton/Northfield NH.  Celebrating its 18th season Sunday Evenings from 6-9pm, the corridor of route 3 in Tilton is a buzz as concert goers from the very young to the very old can be found streaming their way across the newly rebuilt footbridge of Tilton Island.

Hundreds of them convene weekly to enjoy the diverse venue of entertainment provided by concert promoter and founder Alan Hartwell.  The concerts which have provided nearly two generations of attendees the opportunity to make family memories, began as a loving memorial to Hartwell's late wife and former performer Savina Hartwell- who for decades delighted the likes of Duke Ellington and Frank Sinatra in her nighclub performances singing gentle jazz.

She was a career recording artist for LOVE  Records.  Her CD's still still abroad and are very popular among Jazz conesseurs. Upon her passing in 1992, Alan wanted to give something back to the community his wife came to love to dearly. It was at that time, he dedicated the bandstand on Tilton Island in her memory and began the free concert series for the public.  Since the popularity of the concerts has grown annually. It is a multi-generational event whcih all ages can enjoy. And most importantly in these financially trying times they are FREE.

With lawn chairs and picnic baskets in hand, as gentle summer breezes blow, the music wafts through the air surrounding the island on Sunday evening from July through August.  Bringing quality entertainment to locales and tourist alike at a price anyone can afford- they are absolutely FREE.
