REALTOR® TOOLS THAT NEVER LOSE THEIR WORTH

By
Real Estate Agent with Reliant Realty in Nashville, TN TN License# 00232013

I was thinking about REALTOR® TOOLS THAT NEVER LOSE THEIR WORTH especially in these times of "high technology."  REALTORS® were selling property when all their calculations were accomplished with a No. 2 pencil.  They were selling homes long before the MLS books came into being, and continuing education referred to summer school.  All the modern tools are handy and make many tasks quicker an more easily accomplished.  I remember doing amortization schedules one payment at a time--repeated 360 times.

REALTOR® TOOLS THAT NEVER LOSE THEIR WORTH are determination, preparation, persperation, personal presentation, confidence, and a winning personality.  You have to want the business, prepare for the business, work for the business, ask for the business, create an aire of confidence in your knowledge and ability to accomplish the business, and possess the enthusiasm for the business.  I remember a preacher saying, "Enthusiasm is as powerful as dynamite, and as contageous as the measles."  You don't have a button on you ipod for these essential tools.

Yes and YES! Attitude is everything. If it wasn't for our attitude (enthusiasm) we wouldn't be half as far as we are today!

Great blog, Fred!

I would ADD a suportive "partner" and family....Realtors work HARD and LONG hours, take phone calls during dinner and leaving family gatherings to write contracts * is a family who understands and APPRECIATES this IMPERATIVE

Doing amortization schedules one at a time sounds painful.  Even with the old basic calculator it was time consuming.  I guess there was a time when Microsoft Excel and Lotus 1-2-3 didn't exist.

To you list of characteristics starting with p, add persistence.

Carla, Todd/Devona, Wallace, Dan, Michelle and Stephen: Thank you for your kind words! What rings true here is that any one of us could have made this post:  we live these truths each day.

Dan, thank you for "persistence."  You are absolutely right.  I love to tell the story of Willie Gale when he was 9 years old...his chore was to fill the water bucket.  The spring was 1500 feet away, and it took persistence to get water out of the old primer pump.  He would pump and pump and pump until exhaustion set in.  Just as he let go of the pump handle, his dad (passing by) would tell him "don't quit now!" and hit the handle a few hard licks--WATER!!!  [Shall we say, "ACTIVE RAIN"?]

Willie [a motivational speaker] tells this story to sales people thinking of quitting: "Don't Quit Now!!!"  Let's lift America out of its doldrums by selling another house...

Wallace,

I wanted to single out your comment: "PARTNER".  Amen! Amen! Amen! Say ON!!!  Years ago, I was told that behind every great man, there is a woman.  A minister's wife quickly added, "telling him when he is wrong."  To which, I've often added, "and she is usually right!"

Be you male or female, you are only half complete without the other.  My wife is so different from me [that is good]: she is quiet, private, and a woman of few words; but I fair much better when I heed them.  One of the greatest contributions a "PARTNER" makes is (in word or deed) making you know "I'm with you--for better or worse."

Now, you got me preaching...Fact is: the truth needs to be declared [as much as we men tend to act like we can go it alone].

Wallace, that was my Great-grandmother's name.  You serve her name well!!!
