Farming. Yup, the traditional way of mailing stuff to a geographic (or psychographic) farm. Monthly mailers, door hangers, doorknocking, pumpkins on Halloween, flags on the 4th. You know, all of the stuff that we all learned about when we were growing up (lol). We know if we do this over a period of time, we will see rewards. Similar to a farmer planting corn. He/she plants the seed, fertilizes, waters and gives a little TLC, and presto... Corn!
So the same can be said with your traditional farm. Statistics show that if you are farming monthly by sending out a monthly newsletter or item of value you should see a 50 to 1 ratio after about 2-5 years. That means, you would have to send something to 50 houses, 12 times a year, for 2 to five years to expect one of the 50 homes to sell with you. Long odds, but will definitely give you a return. We also know that if you doorknock, or do neighborhood events... that ratio can increase. Not to mention, if you actually meet the people in the farm my odds can increase as long as your "touches" to that group increase over the 12 times a year that you are touching them.
On average, a touch for a farm should cost .50 cents per touch (or mailer). So per year, that cost would be $6.00. Over 2-5 years it would be $12-$30 per person.
If you advertise your Facebook Fan Page on Facebook at $1.00 per click, it only would cost $1.00 per person to have them "like" your fan page. Thus increasing your fan page at a cost of $1.00 per person, for life. You only had to pay once to get them in your fan page SOI. Then you could update your page with stories, news, information, events... And push that news to "that new persons" news feed. FOR FREE. No other charges to farm your online SOI. So after you grow your farm on Facebook, you only have to maintain it, and that is for free.
Some last thoughts (AND I WANT TO HEAR WHAT YOU THINK!!)
So if you mailed to a farm of 500, it would cost $250. If you posted an ad with a cap of $250 you would gain a lot of fans that you could market to later on for free forever.
Advertising on Facebook allows you to grow your fan base above and beyond your actual friends and family.
I now advertise daily on FB. It takes me 3 minutes to create the ad, and I get over 100,000 impressions a day, and average 10 new fans a day, at a cost of .61 cents or so per "like". So it works.
Try out advertising a few times, and soon you will be a pro!
Don't stop your regular farming at all! This is just another way to grow your business.
Let me know if you are doing this, and what you thoughts are???? I would love to hear your comments.
