There are certain things that really get me.... We know as agents, there are certain guidlines we must follow, to ensure the safety of our buyer's & seller's.
In the State of Maryland, we hold the issue of Lead Based Paint very serious. Lead based paint supposebly only exists in properties built on or before the year 1978. Properties built later than that are not at risk. Although, these properties built later than this date are not effected, it is still company policy that we use the disclosure/disclaimer forms the ensure the safety and issues that may arise with Lead Based Paint.
One would think, since the government, both State and Federal agencies, are so strict when it comes to the presence of Lead Based Paint in our homes, worried our children may "accidentially" chew on the windowsills. Why are they not worried about the toys they play with daily, and consistently put in their mouth?
Yesterday, we hear from the media, the massive recall from our nations largest toy company, because these toys our children play with daily, may contain lead paint. May contain lead paint? Do they or don't they? We are so careful not to expose our children to the possibility of a paint chip, or the dreaded, "window sill", but is okay on toys they play with daily?
Where are they regulations? Why are their millions of toys floating around our country, in our childrens mouths with lead on them?
