Does Your Buyer Want A "Girl Cave" In Virginia Beach

By
Real Estate Agent with Fathom Realty

I have been taking buyers out for years and having men wanting a "Man Cave".  You know the big hulking room you can put a home theatre in or fix the car or play pool.  Now I was reading in our local paper about a lady in Virginia Beach making a "Girl Cave".

A "Girl Cave" could be something simple according to Betsy DiJulio.  She converted a former guest room into a "Girl Cave" by adding a nice looking sleep sofa, dresser, end table, lamp and a t.v. .  Now she has a room for guest to relax in, sleep in and for a place to get away while the husband does sports in the family room.

I guess now we need to put a new field in our listings for "Girl Cave"

Gene, I get requests for Man Caves all the time, and I've often wondered why nobody ever asks for a Girl Cave.

Great idea! Everyone knows about man caves - it was clearly just a matter of time until we got girl caves. I love it!

I actually created a "girl cave", (though I called it my "girl ROOM") in the first home we purchased as empty nesters.  I was ready to downsize, but the hubs said we needed to have space for them to come home, and room for new daughters-in-law and eventually grandbabies, so we bought the biggest house we had purchased to that point.  Four floors, four bedrooms.  I took the smallest for myself, and painted it especially for me.  I put a super comfy chair, a bookcase, lamp and a workspace for a sewing machine or crafts.  That was four moves back, and two daughters-in-law and a grandson...I don't have a room anymore, but I think about it...

Great idea, I think there are probably more "girl caves" around as we think, everyone needs a space for themselves!
