My wife and I came to Chicago a few days ahead of her son's college graduation so we could do a little sightseeing in the Windy City. If you have never been to Chicago, I highly recommend that you go! It's a beautiful city with much to do and experience.
Our two best dining experiences were Joy Yee's and Giordano's (getting a Chicago-style pizza should be a written requirement for any visit). But my favorite experience of the trip was The Official Chicago Architectural Foundation River Cruise aboard the First Lady fleet. The weather was perfect, just right for the top deck seating.
There are several architectural cruises in town so you need to choose carefully. The "Official" tour is hosted by highly trained and certified docents from the Chicago Architectural Foundation. They are truly experts in Chicago history and skyline. The tour is 90 minutes long and worth far more than the $32 per person they charge. It's no wonder that this is one of the top rated attractions in the Second City. (And you even learn on the tour how the term "Second City" came about!) Our docent was so knowledgeable and enjoyable that I really hated for the tour to come to an end. But I did manage to get pictures:
If you are in Chicago, please be sure to check out the CAF and their tours. Don't miss out on a wonderful experience!
