Better to be safe than sorry!

Wow, it seems as though the tropics are beckoning to be seen all of the sudden!  We are, of course, in the middle of Hurricane Season, so here are some tips that we've all seen before, but could stand to be reminded of...

  • have at least 1 gallon of water per person for 3-7 days
  • have enough non-perishable food to last you for 3-7 days
  • make sure you have enough toiletries/hygiene items on hand
  • fill your prescriptions/medications and have a first aid kit handy
  • make sure you have enough elderly & baby supplies; diapers, formula, food, medications
  • have ready cash
  • fill your propane tanks
  • have plenty of batteries for flashlights and radios
  • fill up your gas tanks
  • waterproof important documents
  • be sure to have pet supplies
  • make sure your family has a plan for evacuation, if necessary

Like I said, most of these tips are pretty much common sense, but it doesn't hurt to review them.  It's better to be safe than sorry!  Stay safe during this Hurricane Season!

Crystal,

Good stuff.  Yes, perhaps commons sense, but I'm on an emergency management team, and I can tell you people can't hear these pointers too often.  Thanks.

Thanks for the info Crystal.  I'm a year late seeing it, but it still applies. ;o)  Paige
