Moose Monday - Moose Sightings In Mississauga, Ontario

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Real Estate Centre Inc., Brokerage

Once in awhile I have something to contribute to my blogging buddy  Gerry Khatchikian's  Moose Monday group.  Gerry is always sending me out in search of moose on the loose.

Not an easy task in this part of the country.  Still, I seem to spot the elusive moose in the oddest of places.  I like to spend time at Riverwood Park in Mississauga, Ontario.  It is a great spot to walk the dog and bird watch along the Credit River and enjoy the beautiful flowers on the manicured property.

As I was walking by one of the old buildings on the site I noticed the distinct shape of moose antlers in the window.  Unfortunately the building was closed and I wasn't able to see the antlers from the front.  So Gerry this is the best you get today.

At least I think it's a moose??

Hi Jenny - You have very impressive composition skills.  Not only have you found a Mississauga moose, but you also have a Jenny reflection posed in the same manner that Wilson appears on the 1990s TV show Home Improvement AND you also have TWO bench reflections.  WOW!!!!!! :)

Jenny that's a moose that is unsuccessfully trying to hide in the bushes. So difficult to hide with that unusual ornament on it's head. Perhaps that moose is posing as a tourist?

Oh Jenny,

The smiles you have generated on my face with this latest moose post!   :)

Those are big antlers you discovered.  It does seem to be moose antlers.  We are not 100% sure they are attached to a moose head (too bad the building was closed and we could not get the shot from the opposite angle) but we do recognize someone's face from the reflection on the window and we know for sure that you took the photos.  :)

Because I know you made a special effort to get these photos and went to the oddest of places, I am featuring this post.  :)

With regards to Sonja's comment (#2), Myrl Jeffcoat was the first to make a play on the word moose and she decided a while back to contribute to this group with a mousse recipe.  If you haven't already, check out her lemon moose recipe (moose photo included) featured at Moose Monday.

A closer view at the second photo suggests that the antlers have come off and need to be reattached.

Jenny,

Riverwood is a relatively unknown spot in Mississauga. It has deer,

Jenny, this is the closest I could ever come up with a contribution for Moose Monday here in Indiana.  It is a fond reflection on my favorite drink from our fishing days up in THE PAS, Manitoba.

Instead of having a Creme Soda we would reverse the can and drink a SODA MOUSSE!!!!

Those were the halcyon days of fishing above 54° North in Friendly Manitoba!!!!!

Jenny, great effort!  We don't have a lot of moose in our immediate area, so I haven't tried to contribute to Gerry's effort, but hey at least you're trying!

Hi Randy - yes very Moosish lol.  The other part, I'm not sure.  Kinda looks like a beaver to me.

Hi Sonja, making chocolate mousse is probably just as hard for me as going out and tracking down the real deal lol.

Hey John, I wish I would put as much effort into chasing down listings lol.  So I see our friends out your way sold very quickly.  They close here a week today.

Marc, too funny.  I never thought about that.  You are right about Wilson.  But I guess by now you have seen my whole face more than enough times. (like it or not)

Bruce I gotta tell you about the way I take photos.  I don't smile.  I don't even breathe.  For some reason I tend to hold my breath when concentrating on taking a shot.

LOL Ed - definitely a tourist.  A crazy real estate agent who runs around looking for moose in the Greater Toronto Area.  Yikes.  What's wrong with this picture?

Hey Malcolm - maybe you have a good idea for a new cartoon show.  I'd like a finders fee though please.

Gerry, I graciously accept my feature award!!  Yes, I will indeed go back as I am curious to see what we are looking at from behind.  And you will be pleased to know I have something to contribute for next Monday.  Have a great weekend.

Al & Peg, I would think you would have better luck when you are at your cottage up Orillia way.  How about all those antique/junk places along highway 11?  I bet you would find lots of great stuff to blog about there lol.  Save it for a rainy day when you can't sit on the dock with your cold summer drinks.

Hi Wanda, I feel if I can make one person smile in a day, I've done my good deed lol.  Did I really just say that?

Hi Brian, I am so happy that I discovered Riverwood.  I take a lot of photos there for my other favourite social networking site Flickr.  The flowers and birds there are awesome and I walk the dog on the Culham Trail along the Credit River.  I know they have deer and I haven't seen any there yet but did see some at Erindale Park on Dundas St. near Mississauga Rd.

Bruce - lol too funny.  I never realized that was what Creme Soda was called in French.  I have never been to Manitoba, just flown over numerous times.  I do know lots of people who hail from Wiinterpeg though.

Tony and Darcy - Thankfully Gerry doesn't insist that the moose be real for the Moose Monday group.  I'm sure if you look hard enough you will find something along your travels.

Jenny, we had a lot of fun with those bi-lingual Fanta and Crush soda cans.  Our runner-up to the Soda Mousse was the Fanta Raisin(Grape Soda).  Those were the days.  Ironically both my brothers are up at Rocky Lake above The Pas in Manitoba right now fishing.  I do need to make time to join them one of these years!
