Wanna fight?
Tomato fight that is.
More than 50,000 visitors are expected to flood downtown Pittston for our 24th Annual four day event.
The Tomato Fights will be held on Saturday at 1:30.
Bring your great aim, and attend at Cooper's Waterfront parking lot.
Entry fee is $5.00 and you could purchase tee shirts that will benifit the Greater Pittston charities.
Tomato fights originated in the 1940's in a village of Bunol, and began as a civil disturbance that was broken up by police. The exact origin no one seems to know. Here are a few theories.
- The result of a steet brawl near a grocery store?
- Practical joke on a poor musician?
- Tomatos were being thrown at a local politician?
- School fight among children?
Whatever the start or cause of the original famous tomato fight we continue the tradition.
