Do we need Bass Pro in Buffalo

By
Real Estate Sales Representative with Metro Roberts Realty

Congressman Higgins has sent a letter to Bass Pro executives giving them 14 days to either move forward with building Bass Pro or Buffalo is moving on without them.  Its about time someone put their foot down and got things rolling.  I am not much into politics, but what I do know is that if you want something done in Buffalo, get Brian Higgins involved.  He is a man of his word and gets things done.

I have no opinion on whether Bass Pro would be good or bad for Buffalo, but what I do know is that we can certainly move forward without them.  There are plenty of other retail anchors that would draw people down to Buffalo to shop.  Ikea would be a great idea.  The closest one is near Toronto.  Many of my family and friends plan day long outings to go there.  It is very popular and customers from hours away would come to Buffalo to shop there.  Remember, women are the shoppers, if you want to get shoppers into Buffalo, you need to put something there that is attractive to largest market of shoppers.

I work downtown and I am looking forward to the day that I can stay downtown to shop, have dinner and enjoy the waterfront.

I can spend half a day in Ikea pretending that all the little furniture set-ups are really my apartment. Does Bass Pro really draw so many people that they have become a political issue? How strange.

Malcolm:  Bass Pro is a political issue here in Buffalo.  They promised us the world 9 years ago. But have still built nothing.  We make the trip to Ikea and spend all day.  We go there just to buy fabulous napkins.  That is the consumer we should be targeting.  If you want fising lures you can go to Walmart.

Wow! IKEA!!!  A stager's dream

Bass Pro--mmm, not so much!

Somehow, I have a feeling they will wait until day 14 to announce that they won't be coming to Buffalo after all.

Kathleen, lets hope they say no. With our luck they will build this huge building, decide in five years they have no business and then we will have another empty building on our waterfront.
