SHHH!, don't let anyone else know okay.  Really though, you've got to admit they are pretty cool and they're perfect as a unique decorative light.  This one's mounted on a natural cork float used for fishing nets.  Good job Robert!

True Robert, use a clear epoxy to strengthen them, sprayed both inside and out depending on where they're to be placed.  It'll also add a little shine when they aren't lit up.

Wow!  Urchin lights might even replace lava lamps as cult lighting!  Pretty cute.

Life's too short to leave out the laughter, there's always plenty of sadness lurking everywhere.  Thanks Shannon.

Patricia, I don't want "Green Peace" on my back when they take off as the new fad.  I think we have plenty of urchins, don't we?

Joan, I wish it was a better picture but you're right and I certainly agree, they're just too cool.

Hi Kevin, I have never seen a sea urchin lamp before this one. I'm with Robert, I would think they would be much too delicate to have a light in them.  It eems like they would get too hot.  Interesting, though.  What will they think of next?

Sandy, they're definitely a low voltage item.  Tomorrow I'll go check some sources to see what's available.  About 4 inches across is the minimum.  I'm surprised you don't find them in the Indian River Lagoon.
