Salt Lake City

What:  16th Annual Native American Celebration in the Park Powwow

When:  Saturday, July 24 at dusk

Where:  Liberty park at 600 East 900 South

Info:   After the Native American Celebration.  Native American Celebration starts at 7am and will have food, crafts booths, multicultural entertainment.  Powwow $5.00 (under 6 & over 65 Free)  All other events/activities free

Special guests:  Actor and stuntman Patrick Shining Elk, of Wyoming's Eastern Shoshone tribe, who has appeared in "La Mission" and "The Only Good Indian"; and Kiowa Gordon, wolfpack member from "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse"

When:  Saturday, July 24.  Game starts at 7:00pm with holiday fireworks show right after the game.

Where:  Spring Mobile Ballpark, 77 West 1300 South

Cottonwood Heights

What:  Butlerville Days

When:  Saturday, July 24 at dusk

What:  3rd Annual MX Pioneer Day Extravaganza

When:  Friday, July 23

Where:  Rocky Mountain Raceway' Plaza Cycle Motocross Park 6555 West 2100 South, West Valley City

What:  Fiddlers ‘n Fireworks

When:  Saturday, July 24 at dusk

Where:  Over Deer Creek Reservoir

Info:  Heber City's Historic Heber Valley Railroad will present a spectacular fireworks display over Deer Creek Reservoir accompanied by the Old Time Fiddlers. Pizza and beverages served on the train.

 

Mapleton

What:  Mapleton Pioneers Day Celebration

When:  Saturday, July 24 

Where:   Ira Allen Park (1800 South 800 W.)

What:  Sunrise Service

When:  Saturday, July 24, 7 a.m.

Where:  Tabernacle on Temple Square, Salt Lake City

Info:  Free. Presented by the Pioneer Chapter of the Sons of Utah Pioneers, the program features a Tabernacle organist and several hundred voices in combined choirs from around the valley. There will also be a flag ceremony by the Mormon Battalion.

 

What:  Deseret News Marathon 5K/10K/Fitness Walk

When:  Saturday, July 24, Marathon starts at 5:30 am, 10K starts at 6:00 am, 5K starts at 7:00 am

Where:  Marathon starts at the top of Big Mountain above Emigration Canyon; the 10K starts at Research Park, 500 S. Wakara Way, Salt Lake City; 5K starts at EnergySolutions Arena, 301 W. South Temple, Salt Lake City.
