Salt Lake City

What:  16th Annual Native American Celebration in the Park Powwow

When:  Saturday, July 24 at dusk

Where:  Liberty park at 600 East 900 South

Info:   After the Native American Celebration.  Native American Celebration starts at 7am and will have food, crafts booths, multicultural entertainment.  Powwow $5.00 (under 6 & over 65 Free)  All other events/activities free

Special guests:  Actor and stuntman Patrick Shining Elk, of Wyoming's Eastern Shoshone tribe, who has appeared in "La Mission" and "The Only Good Indian"; and Kiowa Gordon, wolfpack member from "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse"

When:  Saturday, July 24.  Game starts at 7:00pm with holiday fireworks show right after the game.

Where:  Spring Mobile Ballpark, 77 West 1300 South

What:  3rd Annual MX Pioneer Day Extravaganza

When:  Friday, July 23

Where:  Rocky Mountain Raceway' Plaza Cycle Motocross Park 6555 West 2100 South, West Valley City

Info:   Motocross riders from across the state will compete at the 3rd Annual MX Pioneer Day Extravaganza.   A firework spectacular will conclude the night of high-flying action.  For more information go to www.rmrracing.com.

What:  Fiddlers ‘n Fireworks

When:  Saturday, July 24 at dusk

Where:  Over Deer Creek Reservoir

Info:  Heber City's Historic Heber Valley Railroad will present a spectacular fireworks display over Deer Creek Reservoir accompanied by the Old Time Fiddlers. Pizza and beverages served on the train.



What:  Mapleton Pioneers Day Celebration

When:  Saturday, July 24 

Where:   Ira Allen Park (1800 South 800 W.)

Info:  Fun run, 5K run, craft booths, food, entertainment, games all day.  There is a cost for games and food.








Salt Lake City

When:  Saturday, July 24, 9 a.m.

Where:  Begins at South Temple and State Street, heading east to 200 East, south to 900 South, then east to Liberty Park at 600 East, Salt Lake City

Where:  Main Street to the park

When:  July 19 to July 24, 7:00 each night\

What:  Ogden Pioneer Day Rodeo "Best Rodeo in the Wilderness Circuit"

What:  The Utah Symphony | Utah Opera's Deer Valley Music Festival Pioneer Day weekend celebration includes two concerts

What:  Rhythm Devils

When:  Sunday, July 25, Gates open at 6:00pm, Show at 7:00pm

Where:  Red Butte Garden and Arboretum, 300 Wakara Way, Salt Lake City

Info:  The Rhythm Devils had their origins as an informal but frequent fixture in the Grateful Dead concert repertoire. Performances will include music from the Grateful Dead catalog, past Rhythm Devils music, as well as new collaborative material.

What:  Pioneer Heritage Festival

When:  Friday, July 23, and Saturday, July 24, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Where:  This Is the Place Heritage Park, 2601 E. Sunnyside Ave., Salt Lake City

Info:  $9 ($7 for kids). Pie eating contest, candy cannon, youth parade, foot races, pioneer arts and crafts, games, music and train rides. Call 801-582-1847


What:  Sunrise Service

When:  Saturday, July 24, 7 a.m.

Where:  Tabernacle on Temple Square, Salt Lake City

Info:  Free. Presented by the Pioneer Chapter of the Sons of Utah Pioneers, the program features a Tabernacle organist and several hundred voices in combined choirs from around the valley. There will also be a flag ceremony by the Mormon Battalion.


What:  Deseret News Marathon 5K/10K/Fitness Walk

When:  Saturday, July 24, Marathon starts at 5:30 am, 10K starts at 6:00 am, 5K starts at 7:00 am

Where:  Marathon starts at the top of Big Mountain above Emigration Canyon; the 10K starts at Research Park, 500 S. Wakara Way, Salt Lake City; 5K starts at EnergySolutions Arena, 301 W. South Temple, Salt Lake City.
