Ok, I know things are not good in the mortgage industry and the markets have slowed.  BUT does anyone else feel that the media is making it all worse than it really is and adding fuel to the fire.  If the newspapers and news programs are all saying how bad things are(because bad news sells better than good news)don't people tend to take that view?  Sure, things are not wonderful in the real estate world right now but there is a cycle to everything and we are in the down stroke right now, nowhere to go but up.  And people are still buying and selling homes, mortgage companies are still writing loans.  Things have changed, yes, but doesn't everything?  Maybe now the inflated prices in some areas will come back to reality and the buyers that really shouldn't be buying right now and the lenders that shouldn't really be lending them money will have to put themselves in a better position over time.  I am interested in hearing what everyone else has to say on this topic.

Yes, I wish the media would just stop and move on to reporting something else. It is not what they are saying. It is hurting us. I hear peopel were going to sell but want to wait until the market gets better. OUCH.

Its keeping everyone's minds of more important issues like Iraq.

Unfortunately our clients read the newspapers and watch the news.  Hopefully we can all ride the tide out. Maybe we take a job at Starbucks during the interim...its a great place to make contacts!

I share your thoughts on this one. News media will take advantage of any negative news and hype it for all it is worth. For example, do I really need to see one more internet pedophile get caught with is metaphorical pants down on prime time TV?

I'm sure some innocents were hurt by irresponsible lending, and I know investors are being hurt by lenders going under. Facts are facts. But the needless repetition of talking heads causes hysteria.

What is going on will definitely price a good number of buyers out of our market.  The beautiful thing is that we like our job, we need to realize what areas of the markets are moving ~ just because resale is at a standstill doesn't mean nothing else is a shakin!
