Does Hitting the Re-Blog Button Produce Google Juice?

Occasionally, when I stumble upon a post that I think consumers might enjoy reading about real estate or financing, I re-blog it.  I have also noticed that there are some in the rain who re-blog continuously...if fact, it is difficult to find a post that was written by the member.  I don't have a problem with that, as it gives continued life to the posts written by others and builds their own content.

But I digress....Steven Graham's google blocks

Does anyone have any experience or opinion about whether or not re-blogging produces any Google Juice for the re-blogger?  Does it create Google Juice for the original poster when their material is re-blogged?

This inquiring mind would like to know....

By the way, I found the picture of Google blocks on a post by Steven Graham about Google Juice.

Based on the above comments, it appears that it could go either way.  maybe yes.....maybe no.... who really knows. Let's call Google.

What I learned, by trial and error, is that I had a typo in the title.  When I changed that in the original, it didn't get changed in the re-blog and that bumped it out! :-(  And now you have . . . the rest of the story.  HA HA HA  (My apologies to Paul Harvey!)

The post has to be written in the Google Juice format.  Any blog that you want to get crawled does.  That is the KEY!!

Dana - Hmmm I have not seen it on any re-blogs that I have done but I have seen it on the original blogs... I tend to agree with Lisa and Maureen about it but Steven says it does give out the google juice... Hmmmm confusing as always... My two cents have said no to this question but hey, who am I to question an authority...

I re-blog occassionally when I think the information is so great that it needs to be passed on.  I never gave it a thought about if I received Google juice.  I think it is great if I do and also help the original poster.

Interesting questions, I reblog when someone writes something that I think is worth sharing, not so much for the SEO but more for the good info.

I reblog ten posts a week maximum because that is the points rewards structure in place. I figure they do everything else that's good for you with reward points, so this would not have the points if there were not a benefit. I pick the ten posts each week that say soemthing  better than I could have OR that cover a subject that the blogger knows better than I know.

Re-blogging is an interesting topic.  I wrote a blog post in the last few weeks about EDITING the post after reblogging to disable comments, thereby forcing the reader to go to the original author's post to comment. AND, I stated that I consider it a compliment to have my post re-blogged.

Since then, I have noticed many bloggers who have NO ORIGINAL CONTENT and their blog is all re-blogs. That probably wouldn't annoy me as much as it does if they would preface the re-blog by saying, "This Tulsa Realtor has written an excellent post about xxx.  I hope you find her information as useful as I did."

So, if you're going to re-blog, go the extra step to give the original author credit and explain to your clients why you feel this information is useful; then edit and disable comments.

Lisa's response #16 was very helpful.

Thanks for bringing the topic up - have wondered about it myself!

Steven, thanks for bringing the "insider info" to the discussion!

Maureen, I agree that the end game is not for points or ranking, it is to bring content.

Andrew, interesting way to say you think it all adds together and works!

Lisa, it is still a bit confusing, but your comment brought some insight.

Vince, thanks for joining the thread!

Donna and Mark, I have noticed that as well...

Susan, I have found some interesting blogs that way as well, and have subscribed as a result.

John, I started wondering about it when there started being so much re-blog content on the Blog roll...I thought I must be missing out on something!!  Steven and the whole AR group is great!

Lori and Marian...it may be just the ticket if you follow the advice of those in the know!

Fernando, you seem to have hit the nail on the head for making this work.  Time will tell.

Brent, I am starting to think it comes in a variety of choices!

Debbie, it seems like there are some parameters for it to help the juice of the re-blogger, not just hitting the button.  Some good advice in the comments.

Michael and Susan, hopefully it will help!

Allen, that makes sense:-)

Patricia, have you gotten anyone on the horn yet?  Keep us posted!

Carla, thanks for checking back and giving us the rest of the story:-)

Robert, there is a little waffling on the answers, so still a little confusing, but maybe we will watch a little closer to see for ourselves.

Barbara, I started wondering yesterday, when I kept seeing so many re-blogs on posts from certain people, but not much new content.  I figured they must know something "special", thus the question.

Erican and Christa, that was me too.  If I read something that I thought might be of help or interest, I hit the button.

Cheryl, your reasoning makes perfect sense.  We can't know everything about everything, or have the time to research, so clearly there are many posts of interest that explain things better than we could.

Lori, I absolutely agree.  In fact, lately on some re-blogs, I have clicked on the original post and made my comment there, even if comments were allowed on the re-blog.

Thanks for presenting this question. I've always wondered how Google treated reblogs. Now I know.

Bernadine, it is good to know that it helps both parties, while providing new content for the re-blogger.  If something is particulary well written, and of general interest, it is nice to have access to that information.

As so many above have said, it is important to give credit to the original author, even if in a single sentence.

Hi! Li,

There were some good comments, and several of us learned enough to get another piece for that "Google Juice" puzzle!

I'm so glad you asked this....I have wondered this as well. I once did a Google search for one of Lenn's reblogs. I Googled the exact title and she came up higher in the rankings than the original...so I suspect it has something to do with the way Google looks at the reblogger.....since Lenn has mad google juice in general, her reblog came up higher? Not sure....love to know.

Yes, Karen, I was wondering also if the re-blogger had to be a GJ big dog, or if the lowly could benefit...that seems to still be up for question.  Between the comments here and a post by Mike Saunders (and those comments), there has been some interesting, informative content on re-blogging lately.
