3 Hours of CE In Fair Housing Will Become Mandatory in NYS

To ensure that all New York State Realtors remain current with the housing needs of prospects, customers and clients, Gov. Spitzer signed a fair housing component for continuing education credit into law.

Beginning July 1, 2008, at least 3 hours of fair housing and anti-discrimination content must be part of the 22.5 hours of continuing education credit coursework criteria for renewal of a New York State real estate license.

The New York State Association of Realtors (NYSAR) supported the legislation to make this a mandatory component of the CE coursework requirement for real estate license renewal.

This 3 hour course has been mandatory every license renewal period in Ilinois since 2000.

With our lenders in such distress this is a great thing for all agents it might take a little mystery out of nightmare if the material taught has some substance. New York also seems to be the gold standard for mold abatement too. way to go!

CE credits are mandatory anyway, requiring 3 of those be about Fair Housing is no imposition. Fair Housing is an area in which many practitioners still make errors. I'm glad the government has taken this action.
