Just came back from a celebration at a local Tottenham Church, Hillside Community Church.
We were first introduced to ministries at this local church by a friend of mine whose son participated in "BG Club" on Friday evenings during the school year. The idea intrigued and I told my wife about it. We sent Alec, then 5, to the club in early April and the rest is history. He loved it. It was good wholesome fun and Alec enjoyed the Bible based life lessons he was learning in an activity based environment featuring movies, stories, music and games.
We enrolled Alec in VBS (Vacation Bible School), a half-day (9am - 12 noon) program called "High Seas Expedition" that ended today.
Each day he participated in activities with over all Bible based themes, built various crafts (some he brought home - some were being donated to those less fortunate elsewhere), sang, and listened to Bible stories that were programmed around the central theme of a Sea expedition. He looked forward to going to Vacation Bible School every morning and was singing the songs he learned at home during the day.
I have seen signs adverising this same program at local churches in Bond Head and in Newmarket and know they are being offered in many churches in the area.
If you have children in the JK to Grade 6 range, look for this program, called High Seas Expedition at a Church near you. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for some wholesome activity for their children this summer.
