Showing Homes in the Rain?

By

Most of us fill our schedules without looking at the long range forecast. It probably wouldn't help as they are rarely accurate here in Michigan. Today I have 7 cottages to view and looking at the radar it is going to be a wet day. Showing homes in the rain has both advantages and disadvantages. You can see if those roof leaks are still leaking, that is a good thing. Some cottages don't have great driveways so rain could be a factor here. "Carry an umbrella fella" sounds like good advice as well as making sure your clients remove shoes so as to not track in mud. If you can get past the minor inconveniences showing homes in the rain, it will answer a lot questions you might have such as drainage, roof leaks and how well the home "waethers" a storm. Here in Michigan almost every rain we think "could be snow" so I will be thankful I don't have to shovel the rain and off I go. Best of luck in all you do.

The rain is the best time to show homes. Why? Because you are the only one showing a home.

Randy, I love to show houses in the rain...it shows you that you have a motivated buyer and as you point out - it hleps them see any potential problems come to light after a long and persistent rain.

We get those afternoon showers that just appear in Florida so you always have to be prepared. One of my colleges used to give out small branded umbrellas with her info on it when this happened. Great opportunity in the rain.

I agree with Yvette#2, if a buyer wants to go out in the rain, they are MOTIVATED!  But, as you said, you do need to prepare a bit.

Randy, In our area it is always good to see what way the water is flowing as our entire area is low.  (That does not make me care for it any better though.) The good news is that if you are looking in the rain the buyer is usually motivated.
