Home Staging Details

Home Stager with Artistic Staging LLC

Home Staging - it is all in the details in Prescott, AZ.

Sometimes when I stage a home here in Prescott, AZ and the job seems enormous, I focus on the details.  Details can often make or break the staging job. Here are a few details I make myself aware of: (Many are from Barb Schwarz, StagedHomes.com)

1. Hardware. Just a small update of knobs on kitchen or bathroom cabinets can make a huge difference in appearance.

2. Light bulbs. Replace any burned out light bulbs and consider increasing the wattage for a bright cheery space.

3. Soaps, towels, and cleaning supplies.  Store them under the sinks in cabinets.

4. Electrical cords. Hide them any way I can!

5. Knickknacks. Pack them away.

6. Fresh flowers. Always a great touch.

Keep your eyes open for all those little details.  Does anyone have more details to add? Please do.

Kristi

Kristi, you are absolutely right!  Its the small details that count and make the big picture come alive.  I hope you'll consider replacing light bulbs with CFL's.

Kristi,

I always make sure the front steps and front door are clean.  Swept, clear of cobwebs and debris etc. and the front door is clean if not freshly painted.  Front door knob is clean and sparkly too.  Makes a great first impression

Kristi, This is a very good post! You are correct about the whole idea of the details making a huge difference. One thing I will add is that medications also need to be put away, hidden. It will be fun to see what other things the other folks here in the rain see as important details. I'll keep watching.

Religious or Nude art (I suppose that could be considered religious also). White glove test!!!

Did you know that Yvonne stages in white gloves and wears a little ruffly apron? It is so cute.

My idea might not fall in the category of simple details but I still think updating light fixtures in pivotal spaces is inexpensive and easy for most homeowners.  Lowe's still amazes me with the selection of attractive and inexpensive options.

I agree with you-its all in the details. Like a wedding-when the bride is coming down the aisle, no one knows all the work and details that went on behind the scene to make the day flawless. I always make sure the inside and the outside of the front and back door are clean and in good repair. I have been known to clean the screens and storm windows in the doors-they are critical!

Terry, Joelle, Yvonne, Juliet, Kathleen, Jo and Cheri,

Thanks for all your comments - all great additions to the details.  And Terry, I am as 'green' as they come, I always suggest CFL's - it shouldn't be any other way. I use them at home and in staging. If everyone used them, it would be a better world.

Kathleen, I will have to ask Yvonne to model that outfit for me, next time I see her.

Yvonne, how about it at our next SNAPA meeting?

I am looking forward to reading all of your posts!

OMG.. I want to see Yvonne in that get up! I dare her to wear it to the meeting! I have a CDR, which is a Comprehensive Detailed Report that goes from across the street to the nail on the back fence.  Call me picky... Oh yes, if they want to sell the home then they better abide by the report! It is ALL in the details!

Nice list Kristi!  I am a hardware fanatic and look for every opportunity to update the ugly ones!  Having classier handles/knobs can really step up a bath or kitchen very quickly!  One of my last homes I did had 'golfball-sized-looking' kitchen knobs...they were HUGE!!  Details matter and making sure everything is spic and span really counts too! (None of those cobwebbies around the front door....creeps me out!) Thanks-Kathleen

Hey Kristi, I just got back from my long weekend and find I've been offered a very interesting challenge. Of course I'll have to figure out a way to try to meet it. Humm. This could be fun. Now we will have to stage this stager for sure.
