Distressed Homeowners - Short Sales

There are far too many homeowners out there that are upside down on their mortgages with no viable way to turn it around, yet they are not seeking help from real estate professionals.  In a situation where the homeowner is legitimately distressed they should get a realtor that has experience and expertise in that area and find out what their options are.  If the homeowner wants to get out of the house the realtor can begin to assess the situation and see if they would fit the short sale criteria.  Remember, it seems that there may be repercussions for strategic defaults (meaning the homeowner can afford to pay but just doesn't want to because they owe more on their house than it's worth). If you are a candidate for a short sale remember that the realtor does not get paid unless the deal goes through.  You should never pay a person or company up front to short sale your house, your local real estate expert can do it and with no up front money.  For those homeowners that are just not making mortgage payments and staying in the house they need to realize that one day the bank will foreclose and that will be more detrimental to their credit and they will have to leave the home anyway.  Call your local realtor, if you are here in Jacksonville call me.

Just a note. Most homeowners try a loan modification and the odds are that if you are paying up front to do a loan modification you just wasted your money.
