Late last night, the local water authority WSSC issued another mandatory water restriction for Montgomery County & Prince George's County, MD. Just a couple of weeks ago there was a restriction over the long and very hot 4th of July Weekend - because of a water main that was showing signs of failure.
The NEW water restriction, which was issued late last evening, is related to the severe thunderstorm we had yesterday, it apparently knocked out power to the River Road filtration plant for several hours. This plant processes about 70% of the water for 1.8 million customers. WSSC says the water restriction is extremely important to ensure that adequate water pressure can be maintained for firefighting.
Water restriction means:
- no outside watering/sprinklers
- limit toilet flushing
- limit use of washers/dishwashers
- limit use of water wherever you can
With yesterday's severe storm, at least nobody in the area feels like they need to run out and water anything. There were power outages, lots of fallen branches, etc. It was very brief, but very intense.
During the storm - we were doing an OPEN HOUSE, it lost power and we lost at least four of our real estate signs. Before that we had great traffic and several interested parties.
