Attention all my marketing friends who are using e-mail and online marketing. Can Spam Act is a LAW.

I was reading this article and I thought I may share this will you just in case you are not aware of this Act.

Follow these general guidelines to avoid sending unsolicited communications.

Caution: Each separate email in violation of the CAN-SPAM Act is subject to penalties of up to $16,000 Ouch

Imagine you send 3 marketing e-mails to 200 friends at a the same time makes a total of 600 potential law suits.

Means $16,000 x 600 = $9,600,000

OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1. Don’t use false or misleading header information.
2. Don’t use deceptive subject lines.
3. Tell recipients where you’re located.
4. Tell recipients how to opt out of receiving future email from you.
5. Honor opt-out requests promptly.
   
6. Monitor what others are doing on your behalf.
