Susan Emo's Buyers and Sellers CHOOSE Gananoque Humane Society !

By
Real Estate Agent with Sotheby's International Realty Canada - Brokerage

Gananoque, ON

As promised in my earlier blog, effective Canada Day 2010, I had selected a few local charities for the purpose of giving back to the community through my real estate business, allowing my Buyers and Sellers to feel more a part of the town.   For each closed transaction I decided to provide $150 broken down as follows:

The first $50 to the local charity of my choice and

the second $100.00 being chosen by my clients.

Today I was proud to provide $300.00 to our local Gananoque and District Humane Society.  Two of my transactions have closed this month here in the town of Gananoque and I am proud to say my new First Time Buyer on Wellington St, and my Seller on Arthur St, chose the Humane Society to receive $100 each on their behalf.  I chose to provide the Gananoque and District Shelter with my portion too.

I know that it costs $300 per day to operate the shelter so I was pleased to help.  Can't wait for more closings to give back more to our community.  If you feel inspired to do something similar, please let me know -  it is one more way of paying it forward!

Shown getting her belly rubbed is Sandy, an English Springer Spaniel who was retired from breeding and given a new forever home.

I think she appreciates the donation almost as much as getting her belly rubbed!    Who will benefit from the next closed transaction?  I know but you will have to stay tuned!

Sandy is just adorable.  About 14 years old, a wee bit deaf and has personality plus!  She is so happy in her new home with a Golden Retriever plus 7 rescued cats!!!!

Just call me Susie Sunshine - I feel great in yellow and orange (my fave colours)

What an incredible gesture, Susan!  I have done this in the past and for some reason fell away from it.  Thanks for the inspiration to do this once again!  As for Sandy?  I don't think she could be happeier with the belly rubs and attention!  (BTW - love the new profile pic)

Hey House Chick -  How great would it be if you could start it back up again.  That's the main reason for the post -  pass it on :0)

PS  Had to get my face back up after showing off my roses!  Thanks.

Hi Barbara Jo -  I got this idea from Dr. Stacey-Ann Baugh as I wrote in my original blog.  I hope others will be inspired enough to borrow it too.

Still missing your girls?

Susan,

What a great idea! Congrats. We do a similar thing with Children's hospital, but it was all figured out by the hospital with sign riders and everything. Your effort shows more thought and creativity.

Steve and Jan -  how wonderful for you to help the Children's Hospital -  I'm sure every cent raised is very much appreciated.  We all need to do our part and if we can inspire even one more person to help, we've succeeded!   Thanks for popping in today with your kind words.

Susan - giving back to our communities is a wonderful thing allowing your clients to direct a portion of that giving is a win win in my mind and I have been doing that for some time now.

Years ago when I owned a couple of small bath and gift boutiques we were inundated with local requests for donations for different events or causes. I found the best way to deal with the volume of requests was to ask the requester if they ever shopped in my store. Now other than my own personal favourites all of my charitable donations are directed by my clients from the monies I earn working on their behalf.
