Yesterday I attended Rain Camp Boston and thoroughly enjoyed listening to Ben Kinney share his expertise on social media and real estate. It was a great event. With all of the tools I learned and all of the information that Ben shared, one point really jumped out at me. Ben mentioned the importance of being remarkable. This is an essential point and really hit home for me. I have been blogging online for several years and have been maintaining the status quo of providing information and posting listings on the run of the mill listing sites. That sometimes works but it doesn't enable one to stand out from the crowd. But after yesterday I started to think about ways that I could use social media to be remarkable and grow my real estate business. I started thinking about my friends on Facebook and twitter. This is an audience that is far reaching and could easily use those sites to spread the word about any interest of their choosing. So how can I get people to spread the word about me. One way we can do this is by highlighting the uniqueness of our listings. As realtors, the most powerful marketing tool we have is listings. Every property is unique in its own way. With that said, it is important to figure out how to highlight your listing's unique characteristics. Maybe the property was built by a famous architect that desired a historic land mark in your town or maybe its address is good luck according to Feng Shui. It could be as simple as the house having a custom exterior color. These and many other factors are what cause people to take interest in today's social media driven society. Use a video to showcase the different characteristics of your listing and watch what happens. This principle transcends social media as well. Most buyers don't go online to look for a buyer's agent, they go online to look for listings. Make yours stand out any way possible. Remember, You don't have to be remarkable to everyone but just a few. And those few will tell others and eventually you'll see remarkable results!
